I have been to Bintan, Indonesia twice. Both trips I went alone. It’s one of the most accessible getaway from Singapore. Most of the time, it’s a spur-of-the-moment trip. Which means, I pay more because, I don’t avail of the deals. This time around I stayed at Bintan Lagoon Resort.
I like the ferry boats. It’s air-conditioned and cozy. A very comfortable 45-minute ride even if I’m in economy class.
Upon arrival, I queued at the immigration counter. No visa for us Filipinos. We are allowed 30 days of social/tourist visit. Afterwards, personnel from the hotel/resorts are holding their respective name signs.
I approached the BLR group. After checking my reservation, staff will direct you to the Blue shuttle bus located near the exit when you turn to the left.
BLR is farther away from Paser Oleh Oleh. I think it’s on the other side of the island. Before you can reach the hotel lobby, you need to pass a golf course. It’s an uphill slope to the hotel.
Welcoming committee!
After checking-in, I opted to explore the lobby. I was impressed with their furniture and interiors. They also have souvenir stores, convenience stores and Polo outlets.
After checking out the lobby, off I go to my room. BLR is huge! I was lost for a while. I got help from the friendly staff.
The only thing that I didn’t like was the toilet. Although with a general look everything is just OK. But with the price I paid for the resort small details count.
I decided to explore more of the resort at night time. Their swimming pool is huge! It’s an infinity pool, but I can’t appreciate it’s infinity-feature because it’s backdrop are the trees, instead of the seaside.
Along the way to Rice, turns out they have their own ferry terminal direct from SG.
Opted for a good old stone massage. It was so good!
The next day, I woke up 3X lighter than usual. My energy is full for the day ahead. I had a hearty breakfast at Kopi-O cafe.
The buffet breakfast was excellent! Lots of variety and the food is delish.
This part of Bintan is facing the South China Sea. The waves are continuous and big (not the surfing kind of big). The water is clear. After some few meters from the shore it’s quite deep for my height. If you have kids, don’t leave them unattended.
Too bad I have to leave soon. I’m only here for 2 days and 1 night. The best is to stay there for 4-5 days to explore the whole of the island.
Till next time Bintan!
XOXO
