Project Pie

I was surprised when I found out someone brought Project Pie in Manila. Good job! Way ahead than Singapore, Dubai and Hongkong.

Broadway, Chula Vista Branch

Originally Project Pie started in Las Vegas. They expanded the business to California with a branch in Hillcrest and Chula Vista.

Interior is minimalist concentrating on neutrals. The place is spacious and clean.

On the left check -out the hanging iPad. You can take pictures and post in their instagram account @projectpiecv

I feel like, the place was designed for social media. The wall paper makes a nice backdrop for selfies and group pictures. Lighting (best at daytime) can give you a nice glow.

s54
Love the hanging light bulbs.

Ate Marilou and I ordered by number. We decided that we want to try everything first before customizing. I find their dough different because of a certain soft crisp with a little bit moist.

s52
Starting Left-Up (clockwise): Prosciutto #7, Nutella & Banana for dessert, Pepperoni #2, Grilled Chicken #6. I like #7 the best. It has this minimal sweet and salty taste that mixed well and is far from the typical tomato pizza sauce.

s55
Remember to clean as you go…

s57
We are kilig with the cute manager hihihihihi. He gave us a free pizza. (He\’s the manly dude in black)

Will definitely comeback to try other numbers and experiment with the toppings.

Manila enjoy Project Pie!

Christmas In My New Home

c64

I\’m in shock when I found out that Seff doesn\’t have ANY decors for Christmas! To think that my mother-in-law is staying with him made it more shocking. An I-don\’t-bother-to-put-up-any-decorations-because-I-will-be-putting-it-down-anyway-after-the-holidays attitude is unacceptable especially now that I\’m here.
I may be the \”boss\” but I don\’t want to pressure my husband into buying a Christmas Tree. I told him to save his money for next Christmas. I came up with a wreath out of old magazines and flyers from junk mail.
To emulate Christmas spirit from the outside, I decorated the plants with star origami using magazine pages. I got the patterns online. We added  lights to brighten up our place during night time. My nephew Joelo gave some of his fanboy comments and praised my efforts. Too bad I wasn\’t able to take pictures of it during the night time. Nothing too complicated since I did everything in a rush. All I want is to feel the Christmas spirit in our house.

It was my first time to celebrate Christmas morning time, not the strike of midnight thing. We have to adjust because Nanay have to sleep early and she\’s can\’t keep awake til midnight. Ate Marilou is still recovering from her surgery. Thus the brunch schedule. We kept the celebration simple.

I cooked turkey spaghetti and prepared the fruit salad con sago. Seff glazed and baked the  ham from Costco. Nanay cooked her steamed fish and vegetables. Jon and Kuya Joel brought some seafood pansit palabok and made-to-order puto.

Aside from the food, we are not to forget the opening of gifts!

To make the day  interesting I came up with a make-shift photo booth!
c6
I used post-its, washi tape and some invisible tape for our backdrop. It\’s bitin horizontally because not everybody can fit without squeezing in. Good thing we have a big wall good enough for photo taking. It\’s also strategically adjacent to a window giving a natural light.

c37
The props that we used are those that we already have at home like the Santa Claus hats, flower necklaces, and party hats from the dollar store. I also did some mustache and glass cut-outs I got from the web.

I hope you had a nice Christmas celebration. To tell you frankly, nothing beats Christmas back in the Philippines. But I have to compensate and make it fun on my standards. It\’s not that bad and it\’ll be better year after year. I promise…

Fast Food Fix

Lots of fast food joints are available in San Diego. Most of it are not exactly approved by Seff (hubby is fitness junkie period). From time to time he lets me experience a part of it.
The fast food industry here is quite diverse. I\’m happy for the variety so there\’s a lot to choose from (aside from my fave Subway sandwiches). I also noticed the humongous servings that they have! Which makes it sulit. Most of their drinks are refillable. A small or regular sized drink will do because you can refill it anytime. This is what I call  a well deserved cheat meal.

1. El Pollo Loco

2. Chick – Fil – A – Specializes in chicken meals. I love them because they support the military. We got free breakfast from them!

Chick Fil A Chick n Mini – Chicken in biscuit. Tastes good with their sauce ( I forgot the name)
Chicken, egg & cheese sunflower multigrain bagel for hubby.

3. Wendy\’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers – Even when I was in the PHL and SG, among the famous burger joints Wendy\’s has the best and juiciest burger in my opinion. Hubby told me that their meat are always fresh that\’s why he finds it expensive among the other burgers.
I was thinking, how come Wendy\’s comes in a longer name/title. Hhhmmm…

I can\’t remember the name of this wrap. A healthy alternative from Wendy\’s aside from the salads.
Chili. Have to mix it with crushed crackers. It\’s delicious not too spicy.
I tried their cheese and its sinfully good.
The following are those that I wasn\’t able to photo because I was really hungry.
6. Arby\’s

…known for slow roasted roast beef, turkey, and premium Angus beef sandwiches, sliced fresh every day. —-SOURCE

Roast Turkey and Swiss Wrap. Photo grabbed from their website.

7. Rubio\’s – First time I was here it was a Taco Tuesday.
The Original Fish Taco
8. Stone Oven – Gourmet sandwiches and salads.
Got this from their website.
I had their Santa Fe Hot Ham. Aside from the sandwich this includes a side item of your choice Gourmet salad, Caesar Salad, Pasta Salad, Potato Salad or Gourmet Potato Chips. So their serving are good for two people if they are diet conscious plus the drinks are refillable for sodas.
If my brothers and sisters are here, they will surely love this food line-up.
Till next my next foodie trip.

Pho "T" Cali – Clairemont Mesa

My husband has taken me to his favorite dining places. One of these is the Vietnamese restaurant Pho \”T\” Cali in Clairemont Mesa.

I fell in love with the place because it\’s very clean. The staff are very courteous. When they see a customer come inside they quickly greet and accommodate them. Not to mention the staff smiles a lot.

My husband had his usual Beef noodle soup with all the greens. The servings are humongous! We were able to share the big bowl.

Ooops he that single strand right there.

My forever favorite, Fresh Spring Rolls! I had the beef filling for that day

They have the peanut sauce instead of the fish sauce ensemble when I was in Vietnam.

They have a variety of dishes in the menu aside from the above mentioned. The restaurant is huge but they get full during lunch and dinner time so plan accordingly.
