Music Monday: Royals

My hubby\’s favorite song now. Currently the number one song in the US. To think Lorde is only 16 years old! She hails from New Zealand.  She sounds great (unique voice and writes her own songs). She\’s the girl to watch out for…

I should say, Joseph has a good music taste.

Linklovin 3 – Quit Day Job Then Travel

or DO SOMETHING ELSE.
If my situation right now has been the complete opposite, I would like to travel the world SOLO. How I wish I used my money wisely and saved up for it. But that\’s the thing of the past now. Everything that I know now are because of my past mistakes that served as life lessons. I\’m also thankful that I\’ve met a lot of people who are very open-minded. For me, living and working in Singapore was my game-changer. My perspective to life changed. I even remember Nerisa (my Malay colleague) that I think differently and very open to try other options.
Don\’t get me wrong, I love what I have right now. And if it wasn\’t for my day job, I couldn\’t have met my husband. What I want now is to travel the world with my family. Although not exactly the kind of travel that this link-lovin\’ folks did. We all have different choices.

What I want to happen is to work part-time on my chosen profession (if possible). Think of a business that could keep me occupied and earning. If a baby comes along the way, (I want to be hands-on with child-rearing) I have a fall-back. Of course, a planned travel from time to time won\’t hurt. Anyway this won\’t be happening all at the same time. I\’m still open for other opportunities.

For all the single 20 somethings, let this links be an inspiration. I don\’t encourage to follow exactly what these people had done, because the truth is everyone of has different issues, upbringing and mind-set. At lalong di ko rin sinabing mag-resign kayo agad-agad sa mga trabaho nyo! Read and learn from the experts who have been there done that.

Ask yourselves, Hanggang dito na lang ba talaga ako? May iba pa ba akong kayang gawin?  Lagi na lang ba ganito? Bakit wala akong nararating? Bakit parang di nakakatulong ang mga taong nakapalibot sa akin? Evaluate yourself. Malaki ang mundo para mag-move on.

The Devil Wears Sephora

My make-up look sometimes is a swipe of lip balm, lip-gloss or a VERY RED lipstick so I don\’t have to retouch during my shift. I\’ve already declared blush application a \”CURSE\” for it brought me bad shifts (nursing superstition so bear with us \’cause it really happens).
I have a make-up history though. I remember applying make-up to my dolls using mom\’s Pupa Make-up. Imagine her horror seeing her kit and my dolls. I\’m always fascinated everytime mom applies make-up, so ginawa kong guinea pig ang dolls. So every time mom will receive make-up gifts I tend to look at it for a long time or apply it to my face.
Fast forward during my PGO days that was 5th grade to 2nd year HS. Where we perform in various schools, churches and conventions. We can\’t afford to hire a MUA everytime we go out, so I pushed myself to learn. But I don\’t wear it everyday. I was still in Pinas where even before I step out of the house, I\’m sweating the make-up off. Not even in SG where they have the same weather. I still practice doing it from time to time. I went a bit radical during college years by wearing bright colored eye-shadows only. I did get noticed and I don\’t care if it was a good or bad way. Then my seatmate Rina gifted me a Penshoppe Blush then Cherryl taught me how to apply it.

Wow! So colorful!

Super fast forward to the days that I can afford to buy my own make-up and Cecil introduced me to Sephora (Singapore). Though my first love is Bobbi Brown, Sephora has lots of options with its vast store of make-up, skin care, fragrances etc. But beware, if you ask for the sales personnel/make-up artists they will sales talk you to death (with demos of course!). The next thing you know you\’re buying a lot LOL. But in a good way because all of the recommended stuff are all great for my make-up shizzle. If you are the type of person who can\’t control how you spend, Sephora is a devil in disguise. Everytime I see its sign am mesmerized. Good thing I have limited money when I arrived here in the US.

Eversince I was educated by Bobbi Brown pipz, Sephora pipz and Ate Cechile (MUA during my wedding, actually it\’s more on asking a lot of questions) I became observant with how a make-up was done. Though I\’m not too detailed with my observations, I leave it to the pros.

When my colleagues and I watched Oz the Great and Powerful. I just loved Mila Kunis\’ fiery and intense eyes. Turns out it was from Urban Decay. They released a pallette for Team Theodora and Team Glinda. Again it was sold at Sephora stores for a limited time.

While resisting Sephora, I stumbled upon Drugstore Princess\’ website.

Welcome to DrugstorePrincess.com – my name is Hilary Ball, and I am the real DSP!  I’m really happy that you found this blog, because the bigger this community grows, the more we’ll be able to learn from one another.  This site is meant to be like an online beauty magazine – pages and pages of useful information, helpful advice, and beautiful pictures to give you inspiration.  DSP is supposed to be an interactive site – ask your own questions, comment on others’, and share posts with others!  It’s impossible for one person to know everything – so hopefully I can teach you a few things, and you’ll learn things from others as well.   —SOURCE

Don\’t get her wrong she also love Sephora and other high end items. But who doesn\’t want to save their precious money by using dupes from the well-loved drugstore products. Since I moved-in the US I can relate more to her favorite products.

I think Sephora is good to people who wants opinion on which make-up suits them especially the beginners and after beginner\’s level up. The make-up techniques that I\’m using today, I got it from them. But you don\’t have to say yes to whatever they recommend for you. Just be honest that you only have a certain budget. They\’ll come up with something, trust me.

Music Monday: It\’s Gonna Be Me

With the recent reunion of N*SYNC, my 90\’s boyband memories came all back to me. We had a great time back then. MTV is literally a music video channel, MP3 was just being introduced by Sony, we have audio cassette tapes instead of CD\’s because we have no CD player (both are expensive) etc. etc. Because of this, the VMAs was suddenly interesting again.
Too bad the Y2K bug must have bitten me hard, that made me outgrow MTV, VMAs and EMAs. When in the past I wouldn\’t miss any of this award shows (including Billboard\’s, AMA, Grammy etc. just as long Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls are there).
The N*SYNC performance was one of the saving grace of the show. Everybody knows that.
Miley you will never be a Britney.

Anyway, It\’s gonna be me was my one faves from the No Strings Attached album. I liked it for the cool music video, dance steps and my DC classmates used the song for a production number during Homeroom.

XOXO

MIA

Long-haul flight…Another first for me.

I\’ve been missing in action for a while for I just moved out from SG and returned to Philippines for vacation. After a month, I\’m now here in the US to FINALLY be with my husband! Anyone who are close to me knows that.
I may be MIA but I\’m still aware of what\’s happening to our country. I\’m glad nothing bad happened to my family and relatives. Though I feel bad that my fellow Laguna peepz has to suffer the after effects.
Amidst all that is happening, I\’m always touched by the generosity of our fortunate kababayans may it be back home or abroad. My sister told me that this huge box of old clothes at home are being prepared for donations. Even my home clothes that I left behind are now packed. At least someone could benefit from our old stuff.
I personally follow PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society) on Facebook. They are still accepting donations for Human and Animal relief.  (Quoted from their FB wall)

[PARC ANNOUNCEMENT – August 20, 2013]

The PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center (PARC) in Aurora Blvd, QC (near Marikina) is opening its doors as a temporary pet evacuation center to residents of Marikina whose houses are flooded and have no where else to bring their pets. PAWS resources is limited as an NGO – it needs donations of dog and cat food, tarps, old towels together with human relief items (ready-to-eat packed food, bottled water, old clothes) as the organization aims to help both humans & animals affected by disaster. Donations may be dropped off at PARC. Map is available at http://paws.org.ph/

If you are volunteering your vehicle for a day, please email philpaws@yahoo.com.

Thank you.

All I have here are GMA Pinoy TV and The Filipino Channel. They\’re still accepting donations as well.

I wish there was a way to  stop flooding from happening yearly. If only that pork barrel was put into good use…How I wish…

As for me, I\’ll be back from my regular blogging.

XOXO

Music Monday: The Day You Went Away

My random Ipod playlist song for Music Monday…

The lines that was stuck in my head every time I hear this song.

I remember, date and time. September twenty second Sunday, twenty five after nine…

Whoever composed this song, surely remembers everything…

So whatever happened to M2M?
